A Constitution Reform Commission has been formed with the goal of achieving a democratic transformation of the state structure and reflecting public aspirations in Bangladesh. The primary objective of this commission is to review the current constitution and propose necessary amendments to build a non-discriminatory, transparent, and accountable state system. The commission is giving special importance to maintaining the balance of power, ensuring the independence of the judiciary, and blocking the path for any kind of autocratic regime in the future. This reform process is being conducted through the collection of public opinion and discussions with stakeholders, so that the foundation of a modern and inclusive constitution is established.
In the second phase of the reform activities, the commission is scrutinizing the proposals received from various political parties, civil society, and legal experts. Issues such as the protection of fundamental rights, reform of the electoral system, and decentralization are now at the center of the discussion. The challenge for this commission is to reconstruct the constitution not merely as a legal document, but as a reflection of the people's will. It is hoped that the commission's final recommendations will ensure long-term political stability and make Bangladesh's democratic journey stronger and more meaningful.
