Shree Jogendranath Gupta (1883–1965) was a prominent Bengali historian, litterateur, and renowned children's author, primarily remembered for his works on the regional history of Bengal and biographies. His magnum opus is considered to be the five-volume sourcebook 'Vikrampurer Itihas', through which he provided an authentic documentation of the social, cultural, and geographical history of Bikrampur, one of the most prosperous regions of ancient and medieval Bengal. He was not limited to historical research alone; rather, he enriched Bengali children's literature by writing numerous educational stories, biographies, and adventure tales. Additionally, his edited 'Bharatbarsher Itihas' and various biographical works on great personalities were acclaimed by the readers of that time as reliable sources of research-based information.
