The Labor Reform Commission's report places the highest emphasis on ensuring the human dignity of workers, fair wages, and a safe working environment. The primary goal of this reform is to align existing labor laws with international standards (ILO Conventions) and to eliminate the crisis of confidence prevailing in employer-employee relations. The report proposes the formation of a strong 'National Minimum Wage Board' and the regular readjustment of wages in line with the cost of living, so that workers' standard of living remains intact even in an inflationary market.
Secondly, recommendations have been made to simplify the right to form trade unions in the workplace and to make 'Labor Courts' more effective and dynamic in dispute resolution. The report outlines a strict legal framework to increase maternity benefits for women workers, ensure daycare centers, and stop any form of harassment at the workplace. Fundamentally, the main objective of this reform is to build a sustainable industrial sector and a non-discriminatory economic system by moving beyond the concept of cheap labor and creating a skilled and protected workforce.
