Brajenranath Bandyopadhyay (1891–1952) was a renowned Bengali literary researcher, historian, and one of the greatest information collectors of modern Bengali journalism and literature. He was primarily associated with the Bangiya Sahitya Parishad and worked tirelessly to document the history and the lives and works of 19th-century Bengali litterateurs who had faded into oblivion. His most notable work is 'Sangbadpatre Sekaler Katha' (in two volumes), where he meticulously portrayed the history of contemporary Bengali society by researching newspapers of that era. Additionally, the 'Sahitya-Sadhak-Charitmala' series edited by him remains a reliable and authentic source for the biographies of the luminaries of Bengali literature. Through his dedication to factual accuracy and hard work, he established the research of modern Bengali literature on a scientific foundation.
